Mary McNEIFF c1866-1935

Mary McNEIFF was born in Co Sligo, Ireland.

She travelled from Ireland with her married sister [Catherine RYAN], niece Mary RYAN and nephews John and James RYAN.  Catherine’s husband, John, was already in Sydney.

The group departed Plymouth on the ship Abyssinia arriving in Sydney on 24 March 1887.

Oral family history told us that George FUSSEN had arrived in Sydney, been attacked and robbed of all his possessions.  He was supposedly taken to the boarding house run by John & Catherine RYAN and it was there he met Mary McNEIFF who was to become his wife.
